Dogracer is a multiplayer kennel management game, with an easier approach than Newturf, our virtual horse racing game.
The game is based on a play-currency called DOGZ. Players face each other on 6 runners races, the owners of the first three dog that cross the finish line, win the pot. Only the residents of the UK or Ireland can convert their DOGZ into real money and withdraw funds (the game licensed by the UK Gambling Commission). For all the other users, Dogracer is proposed as an entertaining experience only (casual gaming).
Two breeds of dogs are involved: whippet dogs and greyhound dogs.
The whippet competition is entirely free. Each kennel receives 5 whippet dogs for free on each first day of the month.
Every Greyhound race has an entry fee. The sum of entry fees is distributed among the winners. Punters can also place a bet on some Greyhound races called Golden Races.
The genetic heritage of each greyhound is unique. The game comes from more than one year comprehensive study on the characteristics of greyhounds, and more precisely the factors that impact the outcome of real races. To our knowledge, Dogracer is to date the simulation game that is the most advanced ever built in this area.
Both competitions last one month. A new game with new dogs re-starts every beginning of the month.
Races can viewed live in 2D (flash viewer) and 3D (shockwave 3D race viewer). to achieve this amazing level of realism, the game studio Palamax acquired in April 2008 the intellectual property rights of a magnificent 3D- greyhound modeling work from the American digital artist Christopher Tackett (http://www.loadedbrush.com/).
